Deadline Friday for mail-in primary ballot requests

The primary election on Tuesday, June 2, is rapidly approaching.

Greene County auditor Jane Heun and Secretary of State Paul Pate encourage voters to cast absentee ballots by mail. Forms were mailed recently which included pre-paid postage for returning them to the Greene County auditor’s office. The forms can also be downloaded directly from the Iowa Secretary of State website, VoterReady.Iowa.gov.

Requests for ballots must be received in the auditor’s office by Friday, May 22, at 5 pm for a ballot to be mailed to a registered voter.

Voters are reminded that primary elections are intended for members of the Republican and Democratic parties only. Voters not registered with the Republican or Democratic party who choose to request a party’s ballot will have their voter registration officially changed to that political party.

Persons who want more information about the June 2 primary can visit www.co.greene.ia.us or call the auditor’s office at 515-386-5680.   ~courtesy of The Scranton Journal
